Christen & Tanner have one of those instantaneous, infectious loves. Like, make divorcees barf a little in their mouth, kinda love.
The first time I met Christen, she was walking on to a job to help us design 6 aerial trusses covered in all things dead - dried fan palms, bleached italian ruscus, and hanging amaranthus. & that is when Miss Texas saw the beauty within the preserved floral world!
And so came the design process... hehe
We utilized a mixture of vibrant, kauai sunset colored florals with the neutral palette of the dried flora as almost a background. Our Priorities were: creating a space as aesthetically pleasing in photos as it was in-person, creating focal points with statement pieces and accent lighting, and utilizing a flow for guests to move throughout the night.
Not-so-high on the list was place settings. Although I love the look of these banana leaf plates with a simple knotted napkin! It goes to show you can have a beautifully detailed event even while budgeting certain areas. Its all about balance.
**A note to all my soon-to-be brides, I know it can be hard not getting EVERYTHING you want, but putting your faith in your event designer or coordinator and trusting them to make magic with what you have, is your best bet. It’ll save you and your fiancé time, money, and sanity. We Promise.
Ok back to Christen & Tanner!
We had the pleasure to work under the Barn at Princeville Ranch, which has so many perks. The rigging is simple and we have so many options under the awning, and as you know, we love letting our freak flag fly when it comes to rigging!
We staggered 3 wicker rounds in a way where you could see all of them from every angle. Next we accented the Bar with a Pendant Light, which is not only tasteful style-wise but also convenient for the bar tenders once the sun goes down.
- All about the Layout & Florals -
We wanted that POW for the Head Table, something everyone will see and go Wow that must be where the bride and groom sit! and the photographer goes YASSSSS QUEENNN Granted the space Is a bit tight, but we made it work. We had multiple points of access for guests to get to their seats yet kept it close and personal. My favorite area to splurge a bit is the head table, because after all this is YOUR DAY. We had a combination of delicate bud vases and environmentally friendly floral bowls with unique arrangements per guest table. (Yes that's actually cabbage in there! I know, who would have thought cabbage could be so pretty..)
One of my favorite things to do when ordering my florals is I give my suppliers a color palette, a budget, and let them go crazy with their creative-badass-selves! I have yet to be disappointed when doing this. They throw in the most unique flowers... And at Kauai Event Design, we are all about everything weird, unique, and beautiful!
Between the masculinity of brass and wood juxtaposed to the soft romantic vibes of the chiffon and preserved amaranthus, wed say Christen and Tanners wedding was a home run brimming with all the vibes.
